He finds refuge with Proprietress Roxanne Locke at Wyrmgate Inn, joining Penelope Locke, the last Sacred Maiden of The Vashari Tribe, and poison master Fossil. Blackwood soon tracks them down, forcing a deadly hunt. Surviving the Mirage Market, the Matriarch's Tomb, and toxic traps, they realize the real prize is not gold, but memories of the Central Plains. Following Fossil's sacrifice, Julian and Penelope defeat their enemies, burn the treasure map, and return to the inn to marry.
